There are two plants that I truly consider to be friends, Hawthorn and Rose. Both have supported me so much over the last few years, I’ve prepared tinctures and syrups with them and Hawthorn really helped heal my heart following the death of my father while Rose in particular just moves me to tender tears with gentle holding and absolute beauty - flowers that seem to offer their entire lives in support of love and just to bring nourishment, sweetness and vibrancy into being. In May this year the blooming of the rose inspired me so much - it was as though I was giddy on their nectar and all life was renewed by the beauty and joy of the native Dog Rose. I have done my best to capture it in this image, which is drawn from flowers in my garden and was supported by Zoe’s “Connect and Create” sessions.
